Wave Agency

Wave Community · The Membership Platform

Your members, your directory, your apps.

The directory every member is listed in, the portal where they edit it themselves, events with registration and paid tickets, a member feed, newsletters, and native apps. One record behind all of it, so a member updates their hours once and it changes everywhere.

Why It Exists

A chamber is more software than anyone expects.

Most membership organizations are running four vendors and a website nobody has touched in four years. This is what it replaced at the Melville Chamber.

The directory subscriptionUsually a separate vendor, usually out of date, usually keyed to nothing else.
The events toolRegistration and ticketing that never knew who was a member.
The email platformA second list, maintained by hand, drifting from the first.
The websiteBuilt by somebody else, edited by nobody, and last touched four years ago.

The cost of four systems is not four bills. It is that a member exists four times, in four states of correctness, and the person who has to reconcile them is usually the one person on staff.

What It Does

The modules, all of them running today.

Every line below is live at the Melville Chamber right now. Nothing here is a roadmap.

Member DirectorySearchable by name, category, town, or plain-language need, with a page and a map pin for every member.
Member PortalMembers sign in and edit their own listing, hours, photos, and contacts. Nobody emails the office to change a phone number.
Events and TicketsOne calendar for your events and theirs, with registration, seat caps, waitlists, paid tickets, and check-in at the door.
Member FeedMembers post their own news and it reaches the other members rather than an algorithm.
News and NewslettersA news desk with categories and a feed, and sends that go out to the membership you already hold.
iPhone and Android AppsNative apps sharing one account and one set of data with the site.

The Proof

The Melville Chamber of Commerce runs on it.

Long Island's chamber in Melville, serving members since 2001. Their organization, their board, their voice. Everything underneath it is ours.

The Melville Chamber of Commerce home page, with the member count, the events bar, and the live markets ticker, all running on Wave Community.

For The Member

The part that decides whether they renew.

A membership is judged on what a member can actually see and do. These are the four things they notice.

A page of their own

Every member gets a real page with their hours, photos, contacts, and a pin on the map, found by category, by town, or by what somebody needs.

They edit it themselves

Sign in and change it. Nobody emails the office to correct a phone number, and nothing sits wrong for a year because the request was missed.

They can be heard

Members post their own news to the feed and it reaches the other members rather than an algorithm deciding who sees it.

It is in their pocket

Native apps on both stores, sharing one account with the site, so the directory is there at the event rather than at a desk.

For The Office

Built for an organization with one person on staff.

An admin that makes sense

Members, events, news, and the mailing list in one place, with roles so a volunteer can be given exactly what they need and nothing else.

Money in, accounted for

Event registration with seat caps and waitlists, paid tickets for non-members, and dues handled without a second system to reconcile.

Revenue of your own

Wave Ads ships with the platform, so sponsor placements across the site and the apps are inventory you sell and count yourself.

Nobody chasing data

One record per member, read by the site, the portal, the newsletter, and both apps. Nothing syncs overnight because nothing needs to.

The Platforms

Three platforms, three live businesses.

Wave Community runs the Melville Chamber. Wave Publisher runs our two titles. Wave Workforce runs this agency. Each one is licensable on its own.

Owned & Partner Properties

We run our own businesses on it first.

Three platforms we wrote, and the live businesses running on them. Two titles we publish on Wave Publisher, a chamber of commerce we run with its board on Wave Community, and a consumer app of our own. Wave Ads is the ad server inside the first two.

Common Questions

Questions boards ask.

Is this only for chambers of commerce?+
No. It is built for any organization whose product is a membership: trade and professional associations, downtown and business improvement districts, civic groups, and event organizations. The chamber is simply the one running on it longest.
Can we bring our existing member list?+
Yes, and it is part of the work rather than an extra. The chamber came across with its whole roster, and members were able to claim and edit their own listings from the first week.
Do our members get apps?+
Yes. Native iPhone and Android apps that share one account and one set of data with the site, so the directory, the events, and the feed are the same in both places.
Who owns the member data?+
You do, and you keep it if we ever part ways. It is your roster, not ours, and it is never pooled with another organization's.
What does the office actually have to do?+
Less than now. Members maintain their own listings, registration and payment run themselves, and the newsletter draws on the roster you already hold. We run the platform, the updates, and the apps.
