Building the New Cinegrade Website

We built Cinegrade a website where the films move, from the home page to every tile of the work.

A video production company has an unusual problem with its website. Everything it is good at moves, and most websites hold still. A grid of thumbnails tells a visitor that films exist. It does not show them what the films feel like.

Cinegrade makes commercials, social content, event films, documentaries and photography across Long Island, New York City and the tri-state area, and it is the production team behind the video and photography in much of our own work. So when it came time to replace Cinegrade’s old Wix site, we treated it the way we would treat our own. The new site went live on cinegradeinc.com on October 22, 2026.

A family resemblance

Cinegrade’s site shares its design language with waveagency.com: a black ground, the Figtree typeface, one blue for every action, and the pastel gradient across the key words of a headline. That was deliberate: a client who meets one should recognize the other.

Where the two part ways is motion. Our site uses it sparingly. Cinegrade’s uses it everywhere it earns its place, because for a production company the motion is the product.

The work, moving

The home page opens on the showreel, playing silently behind the headline. On the work page, 27 films are sorted into commercials, social and brand, event films and documentary, and each tile follows the same three steps. It arrives as a still frame, so the page loads quickly. Once it scrolls into view, it plays a short silent loop of its own footage. Click it, and the full cut opens and plays right there, without sending anyone off to another site.

Every film also has a page of its own, so a single piece of work can be shared, found in search and sent to a client on its own. Even the closing call to action at the foot of the pages plays a quiet loop of footage behind it.

The work: every tile plays a short loop of itself, and the full film opens on click.

Built to stay fast

Full-length films are heavy, and a site that plays video everywhere can easily become a site nobody waits for. So the work is staged: a still first, the loop only while a tile is actually on screen, and the full cut only when someone asks for it. Footage nobody scrolls to is never downloaded, and visitors who prefer reduced motion or have data saver turned on get the still frames and a calm page. The films are served from the site itself rather than an embedded third-party player, so there is no outside branding, no suggested videos from someone else, and nothing between the viewer and the work.

Stills with the same eye

Cinegrade shoots photography on the same days and in the same light as its films. The photography page presents 60 selects from three recent sets, an apparel campaign, a wine bar and a country club kitchen, and any image opens full screen with a click.

One clear next step

Every page ends in the same place. A prospective client can book a 30-minute strategy call straight onto the calendar, or send a message that asks what kind of project it is and the budget range, so the first conversation can start in the right place. Each message is saved and lands in an admin we built for the Cinegrade team, where the team can follow it from first message through proposal, booking and delivery.

The services pages explain commercial production, social and brand content, event films, documentary and campaign films, and brand and food photography, and a process page walks through how a production runs from pre-production to delivery.

Findable from day one

A production company is often found by someone searching for video production in a particular town, or asking an AI assistant who makes event films on Long Island. The site is built so both can read it: who Cinegrade is, what it makes, where it works, and which film is which. At launch we submitted it to Google and notified the search engines that accept instant updates, so the new pages were in front of them right away.

Thank you

Thank you to the Cinegrade team for the footage, the stills and the trust. Building a site for a team whose work runs through so much of ours has been a pleasure, and it is good to finally have somewhere that shows the work the way it was shot.

If you have a commercial, an event or a story worth filming, book a call with Cinegrade.
